Omgoodness! Champs is sooooooo soon!! It's this weekend!! Our coach has had us start tapering. Which means we do high intensity sets with more rest. We have dropped over 1000 meters in workouts. bleh! It's still hard core stuff, but it's fun! Our coach has to constantly remind people (not me) that tapering is going to give a GIANT boost of energy. Soooooo...tapering does not mean playtime. Oh yeah, we're also not allowed to eat bananas and drink orange juice before the meet. There's a nasty story behind that. Same with no opening tuna fish cans with screwdrivers. Let's just say. The stupid dude who tried that had to get 28 stiches in his hand. Not good! My coach was telling us about his tapering playtime stories. He and his brother were pretty competitive and his brother was pretty gullible. He told his brother to climb up this really tall pine tree and to jump off and the branches would catch him and slow his fall. Well, his brother being gullible decided to try it and of course the branches didn't break his fall. He landed pretty hard. Nothing was broken; he just had a few scratches. To get back at his brother they were playing croquet and his brother decided to start a croquet ball fight. Which left my coach with a bruise on his back that lasted over a month. THEN, my coach saw his brother in the kitchen holding a butcher's knife by the blade and my coach walked over and pulled it out without thinking saying , "You're not supposed to hold it there!" His brother had to get 16 stitches!
